When it is dark enough, you can see the stars.

How true! But sometimes darkness can get too much to handle and that's when the stars get overpowered by darkness and lose some of their precious sheen. Wonder what I am rambling about? The sometimes over-rated trend of head-to-toe black. Agreed, it can make a glam goddess out of a girl-next door, or an effortless chic fashionista out of a wannabe. Granted that the head-to-toe black could be punk, grunge, rock or boho. This trend can be incorporated to reflect your individual style with elan. But it is kind of a hit or miss. You can also fall on your face or burn yourself pretty bad with this one! So, let's take a look at the "trend" of

Gaga over the Gowns

Lets talk delicious evening gowns from the Pre-Fall 2010 today

Temperly London

I think I have a serious thing for lace this season. The beautiful lace piece attached just makes me swoon. The color is just so rich and I love how apart from the cinching on the waist, this gown doesn't have any structure. It looks so breathable without compromising on sophistication! I could so see someone like Tilda Swinton or Nicole Kidman wear this on the red-carpet.

Oscar de la Renta

I totally fell over my chair when I this beauty. Its a masterpiece. Just look at the vibrat color and all that ruffle. It looks uber-stunning and I cant imagine how great it would look on a real woman with real curves. Maybe some of the Hollywood divas could rock this gown on the red-carpet, because it surely deserves to be up there. Without that god-aweful shrug-thingy though!

Michael Kors

Such a stellar piece!! You can flaunt your assets and still look elegant and classy, and this baby will teach you how. The thigh-high slit, sheer fabric or the neckline does not in any way take away from the sophistication of this gown. The fabric pattern is intriguing and adds the necessary element of glamour which makes this gown a red-carpet winner!

Carolina Herrera

Not that the combination of midnight blue and white wasn't divine enough, there is a whole lot of glittery black pailettes to make this look remind me of gazing at a moonlight sky with a thousand shining stars all around. The pouffy hemline is so ethereal and so is the black bow belt which totally blends in. Interesting hemline too. An ace of a gown, if I ever saw one!

Chanel

What is with this color? Its getting me everytime. Its Chanel, so no doubt it will be a hot fav among celebs. But I wish to see someone like Dita Von Teese rock this look. The sleeves are so directional, I love how totally structured this gown is, without being body-hugging. The bejewelled neckline was the master stroke that takes this gown from stunning to stellar-stunning!

<3 LBD 4eva

I may be a little too late in doing this, but while browsing the Pre-Fall 2010 collection I decided I might as well do my share of posts on the runway shows. But, as usual the Stylista is doing it with a twist. I won't review my five favorite shows or anything remotedly of that sorts. Instead of focussing on the designers, the crux of my posts will be the individual pieces. So, lets start with the classiest of all. My favorite LBDs of the season (in no particular order)

Vera Wang

I love the pouffy sheer sleeves and the delicate detailing along the neckline. Now, there is nothing new about sheer. We have been seeing them on the runway for ages now. But, what is so unique about this piece is the exquisite grey shade of the sheer lining. Perfectly casual-chic!

Oscar de la Renta

Okay, so I was swept off my feet the moment I set eyes on this. C'mon this is what should be all about. Every cell of this dress oozes fabulous uninhibited glamour. Right from the the classy glitter to the cinched waist, the flattering structure at the hips to the sheer hemline. Any party-animal's dream LBD.

Jason Wu

My favorite detail about this is the structure. The tucks below the waist will make sure this dress hugs every curve of the body in a flattering way. The neckline adds a very interesting element of glamour to the otherwise classy piece. I also love slight sheen of the material here.

Rag & Bone

I have to admit, this is more charcoal than black, but is nevertheless worthy of being bestowed with the honour of being a LBD. Its not your conventional strapless figure hugging dress with a wide belt at the waist. It has interesting ruched detailing on the waist which makes it a little more than just another casual black dress.

Chanel

Irreverance is the word that comes to mind when I look at this unconventional number. An exciting play on the usual LBD with delightful detailing around the neckline. The metallic texture and unusual neckline make this piece an assured hit. The brooch does wonders too.

What were your favorite LBDs from the collections? Don't forget to come back for the next list of my five favorites!

PS- I am working on a great giveaway for my lovely readers. So stay tuned for that!

Another Dahling Stylista

You know how there are innumerable stars in the universe that we are not even aware of? Well, its the same in the fashion bloggers community. In my attempt to reach out and in turn be illuminated by such stars, I joined the Independent Fashion Bloggers.  That's where I met the very fun and chirpy Abbie from Fahion Loves You, My Dahling. Yeah, you read it right! That's what her blog is named and if you ask me, its a testament to her delightful personality. There a cute story behind her blog's name which you will get to read by moving ahead in this post. So, as you must have guessed, I interviewed her and she interviewed me. I am posting her interview here and she will be posting my interview on her blog. So, after savored and enjoyed some quality time her here, go over to her place and read my answers to these very same questions.

So without any further delays, Stylistas and Fashionistas, I present to you the ABBIE.

1. Describe your sense of style/fashion.

My style is quite bohemian/indie/preppy. I love to miss it up with biker boots one day and a loose fit hoodie the next. My style changes all the time. I love graphic tees and skinnies. White pumps I couldn't live without and I love boots. Brown leather boots are my favorite. I'm recently getting in to layering, it is actually quite practical in the snowy weather. Fashionable and practical. Fabulous!

2. How did your blog get its name?

It's quite funny actually, um.. me and my best friend Emily - who has a music blog, everybody should really check out it's awesome, we have this thing where we call each other 'dahling', in this stupid voice. It's from the British sketch show Little Britain, a character called Bubbles says it all the time, it cracks me up. Yeah, 'Fashion Loves You My Dahling', was just a spur of the moment decision. It has a ring to it. I like it. It sounds fabulous.

3. If there was one thing about fashion (in general) you could change/improve, what would it be?

I've said this before, and it would have to be judgementalism. I hate how people feel they can judge each other, it causes people to feel belittled, and it knocks confidence; which an outfit is incomplete without. In the 90's fashion was free. Now there are limits. The brave ones break the mode, then you have the people that wish they could push boundarys but feel too afraid. I admire the ones that dare to wear socks and sandals. As a preference I wouldn't do such a thing because the norm is that you mustn't do that, it's an unwritten rule. Which I think is sad that there are rules in fashion. If fashion is expression and about expressing our own styles, and expression is art, who has the right to judge art?

4. If you could host a grand dinner for 10 celebs or famous personalities(living or dead), who would you invite?

Um...very good question, I like it, okay toughy. The ones that inspire me the most would have to be top of the list.  Agyness Deyn, I love her fashion sense. Blake Lively, she seems so lovely and I would love the latest scoop on Gossip Girl. Third party guest, Leonardo Di Caprio,  he's gorgeous and I love his films. Colin Farrell. Everyone loves a bad boy! Madonna, she has played a huge roll in the way music effects fashion, and who wouldn't want to be able to say 'I met madonna'. The Queen of England, it's a once in a life time oppurtunity to meet the Queen and I would love to. Okay, that's 6. Um..Fearne Cotton. She's british, uber cool and lovely, plus her style inspires me. 7 would be an entire band if that's allowed, The Rapture. They are AMAZING! I love their songs, 'No sex for Ben' and 'The Devil'. LadyHawke would have to be number 8. Great musician. Elvis Presley would be number 9, I had a huge crush on him when I was like nine. He was gorgeous! Number 10 would be ...hmm... Russel Brand. I think he's hilarious.

5. Rapid fire:
Your fashion icon/s- Agyness Deyn, Blake  Lively and Fearne Cotton.
Your favorite trend of all times- Anything 80's. But not leg warmers or the whole 'Fame'  thing. Stage school brats scare me.
The one trend you wish to wipe off the face of this earth- Ha, I answred it before yoe even asked. 80's dance wear. Eurgh..
One item in your closet you can't live without- My knitted rwaistcoat. So lovely!
bags or shoes or shades?-  Bags. But better than bags, boots!
If you were not blogging about fashion, you would be blogging about-
Music probably, or films. I love music.
Your autobiography would be called- Abs.
My name is Abbie, but those closest to me call me Abs.
Your favorite places to shop/ Your favorite designers-
Urban Outfitters, Topshop, River Island and just random vintage stores you stumble across.

Isn't she a 'Dahling'? Now, go over to her blog where she is about to publish my interview and show me some love there!!!! You won't disappoint me now, will you?
